Have you heard of the rare Super Wolf Blood Moon coming up on January 20th? Jackson Lake is a great place to see it, since we have exceptionally dark skies!
This full wolf moon qualifies as a “supermoon” because it will appear as bigger than normal. It will also be TOTAL lunar eclipse, when the moon will be enveloped by earth’s shadow, and display a reddish brown hue. Couple those two things together, and it will be a sight to see! And don’t worry, you don’t need any special glasses to look at this eclipse.
The best viewing will be at Northview Campground, where the eclipse will begin at 8:35pm and last until 11:51pm, with the TOTAL eclipse staring at 9:42pm and last until 10:44pm.
There is plenty of vehicle parking on the north side of the campground, or make it a adventure and reserve a campsite under the Full Wolf Moon!
